The audio below is an excerpt from my autobiography, The Wrong Side of the Room: A Life in Music Theater. The 3-minute Dorothy Parker monologue, narrated by me, is from my musical about Mrs. Parker, You Might as Well Live. The audiobook was published on May 3, 20223, and is available on Amazon and Audible.

Just married to her second husband, Alan Campbell, Mrs. Parker has been cajoled by him into going to Hollywood to write screenplays together. She had had a previous stint there and despised it. This second visit does nothing to persuade her that it is a town where she can feel at home, and the funny monologue relates this.

Norman Mathews delivers a riveting memoir with The Wrong Side of the Room that opens with a contentious genesis and powerfully surges through to its finale. BOOK CORRECTION: In my autobiography on page 152, I state that Carolyn Morris died in a motorcycle accident. I learned from her daughter-in-law that though she was severely injured she did not die. She is still living in Rutland, Vermont.
